"When I was sitting in an airport on standby, almost 14 years ago—I was living in LA at the time, across the country from Pennsylvania, where my family was from—this guy started asking me about myself.

I said 'I'm a graphic designer, I just graduated from college last year, I don't know what I'm doing,' and he said 'Whatever you do, be deliberate.' And so 'Be deliberate' is my mantra.

I'd say the thing I'm most proud of is that I've picked up and moved so many times, and being deliberate about my choices—having passion behind it, just going for it and putting myself into the choices I've made—has made for a rich life."
